ANKLE SPRAINS

Ankle Sprains can be caused by physical activity, ankle weakness, or ankle instability. The best way to prevent acute ankle sprains is to wear appropriate shoe gear for the terrain you will be traversing or exercising. The best way to prevent chronic ankle sprains is to perform ankle strengthening and training exercises at home or in physical therapy as well as wearing proper support socks, braces and shoes.

In our office, we treat acute and chronic ankle sprains and ankle instability. If you have recently suffered from an ankle sprain or suspect ankle trauma, after confirming on X-ray that you have not suffered from an ankle fracture, we can treat you with stabilization braces, ice, and therapy, as well as other treatment modalities to speed up your recovery. Our treatment rarely requires surgery, and if it does, we will first confirm your injury with further advanced imaging.
