ARTHRITIS
Your feet and ankles take a lot of weight and stress from the body. This makes it common for them to exhibit arthritis earlier than other regions of your body.
If you are concerned that you have arthritis, some symptoms may include (but are not limited to) Morning Stiffness, Tenderness that keeps returning to the foot and ankle, Swelling, Redness, Difficulty or pain fitting in shoes that previously fit well, Difficulty walking.
To prevent arthritis that is caused from use and pressure (Osteoarthritis), we recommend that when you visit a podiatrist, you discuss any past injuries, surgeries, or events that may have impacted your feet, review your job responsibilities if they require time on your feet, review your shoe gear and undergo a full foot examination.
To treat arthritis in the foot and ankle, we recommend patient’s have a team of Doctors including primary care doctor, orthopedic or podiatric specialist, and a rheumatologist if the type of arthritis has not yet been diagnosed.
